Bruno Espírito Santo is Technology, Data & Innovation expert at E-REDES (EDP Group), Portugal’s national electricity distribution system operator, where he drives strategic initiatives in digital transformation, data management, and innovation.
With more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector, Bruno has played a key role in the design, development and expansion of advanced data solutions supporting grid efficiency, reliability, and long-term sustainability goals. Since 2022, he has been actively involved in the evolution and international expansion of Open Data initiatives across Portugal, Spain and Brazil, fostering data ecosystems that connect utilities, municipalities, academics and other stakeholders.
His background spans smart grids, analytics, operational excellence and innovation, with a strong focus on bridging complex engineering and regulatory challenges with practical, trustworthy and scalable solutions. He has also contributed to the creation and operationalization of new energy and digital services, aligning strategy, technology and real-world execution.
Passionate about data democratization and public value creation, Bruno believes that effective data leadership is fundamentally about building trust, enabling collaboration and ensuring data is used responsibly to deliver sustainable impact in energy ecosystems.
