Jean-Paul Otte is an expert in data strategy and data governance with over 30 years of experience in the field. His career—including serving as a Chief Data Officer (CDO)—has been built around a core mission: helping organizations transform themselves into truly data-driven, or data-centric, enterprises.
As a former CDO, he has deep hands-on knowledge of operational challenges and has successfully led data value-creation programs by mobilizing stakeholders across the organization around a shared vision.
Today, he brings this extensive expertise to Precisely, a global leader in data integrity and governance, where he serves as Data Strategy Lead. In this role, he advises large organizations on defining and executing their data strategies. His leadership is widely recognized for its pragmatism and for his ability to align technology, governance, and processes with the delivery of tangible business value.

“I believe that the role of the Chief Data Officer is still undervalued in many organizations today, yet it is here to stay and will become increasingly strategic. Data is a critical asset for companies, just as human talent is. History has shown us that the transformation of the operational role of the “Personnel Director” into the strategic role of the Chief Human Resources Officer took time, but ultimately proved vital for organizations that now aspire to be “the best place to work.” The same evolution will happen for Chief Data Officers.”
