Company profile
The Bouygues Group is a diversified organization operating in more than 80 countries, with six main businesses: Colas, Bouygues Construction, Bouygues Immobilier, Equans, Bouygues Telecom, and TF1. This diversity is a valuable asset for the Group, but it also creates a major challenge around sharing data with its approximately 200,000 employees.

Challenge: sharing data products across very different group businesses
Six companies, four sectors: the Bouygues Group brings together businesses as diverse as construction, media, telecommunications, energy, and services. Each has its own data, technology infrastructure, and use cases.
The result? Data remains siloed within each subsidiary, with limited group-wide synergy despite obvious common needs. Employees therefore fail to leverage knowledge from one business area in another, meaning opportunities are missed—not only between subsidiaries, but also across corporate functions such as procurement and finance.
Before the data marketplace was introduced, exchanging data relied on manual methods (such as SharePoint or email), with no automatic updates or traceability. Existing approaches did not provide a user experience that matched our needs. So, Group management asked us to explore alternatives, with delivering an intuitive experience the key requirement.
The objective was clear. We needed to provide a Group-wide platform for exchanging data products, in order to accelerate cross-functional projects and strengthen collaboration between business areas.
“Each business area had its own data products, with no real synergy between the Group’s subsidiaries. We wanted a platform to share and circulate data and accelerate Group-wide projects.”
Data Experience: a corporate DataHub available to the entire group
Based on these needs, we deployed our corporate DataHub, a data product marketplace powered by Huwise technology and available to all Bouygues subsidiaries.
Where exchanging data previously relied on manual transfers, the DataHub now handles data flows with automatic updates, using the platform’s connectors, regardless of the technology stack and data storage used by each business area.
The solution is supported by a team of Group-level coordinators, now complemented by organizers within each business area, all of whom are responsible for ensuring data quality and smooth data flows. The model is based on data producer accountability. Every producer is responsible for what they share, including ensuring that data is authorized to be used, particularly with regard to GDPR. The organizers within each business area ensure compliance with this framework.
The DataHub supports all types of data-sharing model:
- From subsidiaries to the Group: for example, to centralize Group procurement data and consolidate supplier views
- From the Group to subsidiaries: including distributing agreed interest and exchange rates and other reference data to all business areas
- From one subsidiary to another: for targeted data sharing between teams
Not all employees have access to all data. Certain data is restricted depending on its sensitivity, with granular access-rights management controlling who can view it.
A white-label platform to drive adoption across business areas
User experience was a decisive factor in choosing Huwise, as well as being key to driving adoption.
Thanks to the platform’s flexibility and white-label customization capabilities, each business area has its own branded homepage. Subsidiaries share the same entry point and the same features, but with their own visual identity. This sense of ownership directly encourages platform adoption.
Each homepage highlights the latest shared data products and introduces the business-area coordinators, making it easy for users to immediately identify the right contacts and find the right information.
Real use cases across the group
Enriched cadastral land data (Bouygues Immobilier → Colas)
Bouygues Immobilier works with enriched cadastral (property boundary) data, including legal owners, which it has integrated into an application available across the company. At the same time, construction and maintenance provider Colas needed the same data to develop its own business application. Rather than duplicating the work needed to understand, enrich, and qualify this data, the DataHub enables this information to be shared. It provides a single enriched, governed, and documented dataset that can be reused by both Bouygues Immobilier and Colas for their different business needs. Beyond the obvious time savings, this approach meant that Colas didn’t need to undertake a highly complex data qualification process. Colas employees can also use the metrics that Bouygues Immobilier has calculated. These are particularly valuable because they combine data from multiple sources.
3D models (Bouygues Telecom → Bouygues Construction)
Sharing 3D models between subsidiaries is now feeding into a broader Group-wide initiative, based on developing common 3D objects that can be reused across the entire business. The aim goes beyond simply sharing digital models. Instead, by establishing these models as shared reference data, the Group gains a single source of truth for its built assets, from construction through to commercial operation. This approach reduces resources spent duplicating work and modeling errors, streamlines the transfer of information between the Group’s different sectors, and accelerates downstream use cases—such as commercialization, operations, and maintenance—by providing a common foundation of reliable, up-to-date data.
Reference data (Group → Business Areas)
Interest and exchange rates are distributed centrally through the DataHub by the Group. This provides a single source of reference data for everyone, allowing each subsidiary to seamlessly reuse them in its day-to-day activities without having to search for, verify, or manually re-enter the correct rates. By centralizing distribution Bouygues Group prevents the same data from being interpreted or updated differently across subsidiaries. This is an especially critical issue for financial data, where even a minor discrepancy can distort reporting or lead to incorrect decision-making. By consolidating this reference data at Group level, each entity benefits from greater reliability and speed, while freeing up time previously spent manually collecting and checking reference information.
Cross-group procurement project
Our procurement project aims to centralize and consolidate spend data from all subsidiaries at a Group level. Through dedicated Huwise connectors, data is securely and automatically transferred to the marketplace, simplifying interactions with business teams and improving the reliability of data. The objective is twofold. Firstly, to give the procurement function a strategic view of supplier relationships, based on a consolidated analysis of spend, and secondly, to improve the productivity of procurement teams by providing complete, up-to-date data without the need to manually enter information.
Open data to enrich internal information
The Bouygues Group also integrates federated open data datasets into the DataHub, combining them with the Group’s internal data. This means that the DataHub becomes the central access point to data, including datasets that were previously unavailable internally—for example, socio-demographic, environmental, regulatory, or geographic information. Combining internal data products with external data enriches the Group’s understanding of its markets and projects, without requiring each entity to identify, collect, and qualify these external sources independently. The work is done once, at DataHub level, and then made available to everyone.
Huwise: A data product marketplace that delivers greater flexibility, interoperability and governance across the Bouygues Group
Interoperability across the entire data ecosystem
Huwise connects to all of the Group’s data sources, via APIs or native connectors, and adapts to the different technology infrastructure used across each business area. While we are making ongoing efforts to standardize our data stack, this is not always possible given the level of diversification across the group. This connectivity therefore adds real value for us.
White-label customization
Each subsidiary benefits from a portal tailored to its own identity, without having to run multiple different platforms. There is one shared foundation, with the user experience tailored to each business area, without affecting the ability to share data consistently across all subsidiaries.
Governance and access management
Access to the data marketplace relies on the Group’s Single Sign-On (SSO) platform, with access rights tailored to the sensitivity of specific data. This enables all Group data to be centralized while ensuring that authorized users can only access the data relevant to them.
Results and impact
The corporate DataHub has begun an ongoing transformation in our data culture. To monitor how data sharing is developing, we have implemented a dedicated dashboard. This tracks DataHub activity and showcases it to the different business areas.
We are also seeing faster adoption of consistent data practices internally. Publishing data is straightforward, and the platform makes it easier to navigate between data products. Centralizing open data is another adoption driver. This data already existed within the Group, but it was scattered across different locations and came from multiple sources. It is now brought together through a single access point.
Previously, 8 out of 10 employees were unaware that data sharing was possible within the Bouygues Group. This picture has changed dramatically – the DataHub is now known and used across the Group, helped by a dedicated data awareness and enablement effort within every business area.
Finally, the DataHub has become a genuine performance driver by helping accelerate Group-wide projects. Multiple use cases demonstrate that centralizing data and confidently sharing it can increase opportunities and deliver innovation.
“Since deploying our Huwise data product marketplace, we are better structured to manage our data sharing strategy across our subsidiaries, and can clearly see that adoption and data usage is happening.”
To further accelerate platform adoption, a half-day user workshop is being organized before the end of 2026. This will provide an opportunity to gather feedback and build the 2027 roadmap for the next data products to be made available via the marketplace.
Outlook: Bringing the DataHub to life through use cases
Data sharing is already being transformed, meaning that the Group is already exploring the next steps in our strategy:
New data products, open to everyone
CSR/ESG data, IT asset data, as well as shared visualizations such as a map of the countries where the Group operates. This is currently shared as raw data but could in the future be enriched with visualizations and maps.
Stronger editorial engagement
Sharing news and updates between business areas to maintain momentum around data sharing.
Continuing data enablement
Strengthening the role of local champions within individual business areas to embed data-driven practices into day-to-day operations.
Going further with AI
We’re seeing new opportunities following Huwise’s introduction of agentic AI capabilities for data marketplace administrators. Deploying these capabilities on our marketplace could help answer most of the questions we currently have about managing and monitoring our internal data.
“The DataHub is not an end in itself: it is an enabler. All the value lies in how it is used, across project after project.”
